2022 Design Trends
In 2022, we will see popular design move away from the neutral palettes & more towards vibrant colors and bold patterned fabrics. The years of dull and muted colors have given way to bright, joyful colors that feel good, and I for one couldn't be happier!
Color can really impact the vibe of a space, whether it comes from the walls, furniture, or décor. From bold wall colors, dark leather furniture, natural materials like terracotta to deep brown hues in natural stones and woods, we're expecting to see even more warm material and color palettes in 2022.
With more time spent indoors than ever before, we’re all seeking to strengthen our connection with nature. This has simultaneously inspired a resurgence in natural surfaces—think stoneware, terracotta, marble, and travertine being used across the board from backsplashes to bathtubs, furniture, and decorative objects.
Vintage & Sustainable
Vintage has the power to influence the storytelling and direction of any space. Their patina brings a touchable texture and warmth, not to mention a sacred sentimentality. By repurposing the old, the damaged into something new, we’re reducing our footprint while bringing a rich sense of history and spirit into a space.
Have you heard? While we are embracing the vintage spirit, this movement is bringing our designing tastes back to a “more is more” look. But unlike our grandparents’ interiors, the feel is more about floral and damask-printed wallpapers becoming the backdrop for contemporary-shaped soft furnishings and of course don't forget a touch of glamour.
Mixing Materials and Design Styles
The desire to have unique things that are not like everyone else’s is leading to an increase in mixing materials in furniture design to make them more unique. Do you!
We are seeing the effects of our 'buy it and throw it away' consumerism on our planet, and I think people will realize that developing a personal, lasting style is not only beautiful and unique, but good for the environment as well. That's Hidden Gem Design's philosophy to the core. I know you have a Hidden Gem or two in your own home, we can uncover the treasure together and reflect your style right through it.
